Clean and care for your cast iron skillet with these simple steps!

WASH & DRY

Wash a new Cast Iron Skillet with water and the soft side of your cleaning sponge. (Dish soap is not necessary)

 

Dry immediately with a kitchen towel or on the stove to prevent rusting.

SEASON

Season the Cast Iron prior to first use. Rub vegetable oil around the entire surface with a paper towel

HEAT

Place the skillet in an oven that has been preheated to 220°C. Leave the pan in the oven for 30 minutes; then remove it and allow it to cool.

PRE HEAT

Before cooking, heat up the skillet on the stove or in the oven before cooking to create an even cooking surface.

WASH

After cooking, wash by hand. (You can use a small amount of soap if needed). Simmer for 3-5 minutes to remove any stuck-on-food using your wooden utensil and rinse clean.

 

Dry immediately with a clean cloth or paper towel. Place on stove top to dry out all the water

RE SEASON

Use a paper towel & tongs to apply a light film of vegetable oil to the pan

Store in a cool dry place (i.e. somewhere that doesn't have moisture)

COOKING TIP

Use wooden utensils to avoid scratching and oven mitts to avoid being burned
